CNC machining is a computer-controlled manufacturing process for the precise machining of materials such as plastics by means of milling, turning, or drilling.

CNC machining shapes workpieces with high precision according to digital specifications and enables the economical production of complex components with tight tolerances.

Dimensionally stable, machinable plastics such as POM, PEI, PEEK, PTFE, or PVC are particularly suitable for CNC machining. Depending on the requirements, glass fiber reinforced or antistatic variants are also used.

The tolerances in CNC machining depend on the material, the geometry, and the machining process. Production tolerances of ±0.03 mm are achievable.

Compared to metals, plastics offer the advantage of simpler and often faster processing due to lower tool loads and cutting forces. They enable complex geometries with lower weight and offer, among other things, good electrical insulation and corrosion resistance.
